Introducing The Newest Family Member. Kuma.

The Rumor is right!! Goma is getting brother or sister! Introducing Kuma, our newest family member!!
Ok ok, Here are details... We adopted Kuma from local Vemont farm last Friday. We don't know if Kuma is boy or girl yet, the owner didn't know either, so we will find out when Kuma goes to the Vet. Kuma is 9 weeks old, mix of Maine coon and Siamese. Kuma is super energetic kitty, running around the house, knocking stuff on the way. Goma was not happy when I brought Kuma home. He hiss at Kuma and followed Kuma everywhere making sure Kuma will not touch anything or break anything. Kuma grew up with kids and dogs and a lots of kitties. That was very important for us because we really wanted Syd to get along with Kuma. Unfortunately, Goma is not very dog friendly, even though Goma is fine with Syd he will never play or show any affection towards Syd. Well, Kuma on the other hand loves Syd, Kuma even slept with Syd the first night!! I got a picture to proof it!
Kuma is very affectionate kitty, loves everyone including Goma even though Goma is not the most friendly... I think in time, they all will get along just fine. Kuma being so young he has a lot of time getting know everyone. Mr Goma has been very busy watching Kuma, I think it entertain him. One day I would like to see them play!
Goma is making sure who the the boss around here! lol.

Kuma is totally adorable! :) I'm sure they will get along in some time, it took our 2 kitties a few months to be completely accepting of each other.

By the way, our ferret is named Kuma :)

Happy News!!
Hi Kuma, nice to meet you.
I think Kuma should grow bigger than Goma. His paw and ear are big enough as his age.

Congrats on your new addition! One of my bestest friends adopted a kitty over the weekend :) I'm almost wanting to adopt another one so Cordelia has a kitty to play with...she picks on Bella so much! I worry tho, if I got another kitty, it would be 2 against one. :s

Kuma is very cute! I think he won't mind letting Goma be the boss kitty of the house.

We hope Goma will adapt and accept Kuma soon. Goma was an only "child" for a while and had all the attention. :)

The great thing about kittens is that they can push an older cat while still having an innate understanding of when they've gone too far and need to back off. They're also great because they don't hold grudges (at least for the first few months).

I've found that when I bring in a new special-needs kitten, a few of the adults will take to it immediately, but others might take 12-24 months to befriend the newcomer. It's never too late for the cats to start to become friendly, so don't despair!

I had the same thing happen with the introduction of Tortie. One of my kitties just hated her, she'd hiss and swat and just be mean. A couple of months later they started warming up to each other and now they sleep curled up to each other every night.

I think Kuma is a great name for your new kitty. Maine coon kitties get pretty big, (s)he'll make a great teddy bear!

Maine coon/Siamese sounds like an interesting combination. I wonder if he/she will develop long fur and meeze. Kuma is so cute. I think Goma will come around in time. Sometimes the energy of kittens puts off older cats at first.

Leigh-Ann is so right, and love and patience are key! i always use the "expert's advice" on introducing a new cat -- they get their own room for the first week or two, with gradual nose-sniffings through the door, until finally they get short sessions together, and working up to the new cat joining everyone else in the rest of the house. But yes, it can take time for new family members to really bond. Our Sammi took over a year -- as a former "only cat" coming into a large family, he had to adapt to having to share. Imagine! ;)

Nice to meetcha Kuma. You are a very cute little boy. I think you are very brave to nap with a woofie. I am totally scared of then.
Don't worry Goma. Kuma will learn quickly that you are the head honcho in your house and I'm sure he will look up to you very much.
Good luck with your new brother Goma!
