Goma Gets Haircut!!!

Yes! Goma finally got haircut!!! well, as we decided I just de-matted him. We also talked to groomer and she said, it is common for kitty to get tummy shaved for the Summer so Goma has very short hairs on his belleh now! It is sooo soft I love touching his belleh!!! Anyway, when i went to pick Goma up from groomer, she asked me that if I was ever be able to brush him. I answered "NO" because Goma gets really annoyed when I do that. Then she goes, "no wonder, because he attack one of the groomers" . She even told me that this never happens to her 36 years of grooming career...so I felt really bad. I guess Goma is a kitty from nightmare for groomers.... Anyway, Goma was very mad when I came home, he didn't want me to touch him. Now he is doing fine, still kind of in bad mood but fine... He looks and smells good though...he looks skinnier because all the hair is cleaned out! He must be happy about that!
SACHIE: Ahh, Goma you look kind of the same...
GOMA: Wut? I iz skinny now!! see you look!!!
SACHIE: Hummm...I am not sure...I guess...
GOMA: I is not fatz! is flurffy!! You iz wrongz!!

Goma, you look great (as usual)!! But you should let your meowmy brush you! All us kitties like to be brushed, and meowmy also has a "brushing glove" for us (we think it is called the "love glove") that we like too (maybe your meowmy could try that with you?).

All of my cats have major panic attacks about brushing, and we were doing it gently and lovingly since they were kittens!! Some cats are just neurotic, haha. Oh well, Goma is lookin' fine! :) Maybe we should get a professional groomer to clean up our Himalayan, too. :D

Let us see the belleh!

Several years ago when I my mom took me to a new groomer, she told my mom that afternoon that she wanted to tranquilize me in order to groom me. I had been getting groomed regularly for over 5 years when this happened. Turns out, the groomer hurt me on my belleh! I'm still very sensitive on my lower belleh even when my mom brushes me.

Sachie, the right groomer will not try to make you feel "guilty" about grooming Goma. If he is anything like Bhu, he does NOT want to be brushed and fiddled with! The groomer is a professional who should be able to perform the task of brushing him and keeping him looking good. You should NOT feel badly! You are a LOVING, KIND, wonderful mommy to Goma! xxoo Patty

P.S. Any groomer who has never been "attacked" by a cat in 36 years is LYING!

Brushing is just the price you pay for living with a long haired cat. Goma might be better with it if you spend a looooonnnngg time brushing him where he likes it (his cheeks, from front to back, like he is rubbing it on something) then one or two swipes where he needs it, then cheeks, then where he needs it....

A brush with coated tips will be gentler on his skin, BTW.

love goma and your dog syd hope you guys are feeling better. just wanted to tell ya my cat benny who looks alot like goma ( he is seal pt. himmie to). always needs to have his hair cut too. usually according to breeders i have talked to you must get them use to brushing from kitten hood. I got my cat as a adult ( he is from a human society).

i have alot of problems with brushing him too. my vet has also told me that a hair cut is good for their stomachs and hair. she has had alot of pesians and himmies with hair in the stomach that turned into real problems.

i check you blog every day and enjoy you and all your pets so much.

warm regards noreen m.

Awww Goma! My cat Trinny HATES to have her tummy brushed. I tried to start her at 8 weeks old, but she never liked it. So, I get her a full lion cut and she loves it.

Goma, be good next time. hehe You look beautiful though!
