Goma Is At Emargency Vet Again

Hello! Sorry I couldn't update my blog last night...yes Goma is in emargency Vet again... when I woke up this morning he was acting very weired. He will try to go pee pretty much everywhere he went but nothing was coming out. He was also very angry at everything, he even hess at me which he NEVER did before. He also pooped in my bag on the floor which he NEVER did before...he was clearly destressed and very very angry. I knew something was wrong. Luckiy my regular Vet was open so I called in and they immidietly took him in. After 2.5 hours of waiting finally, we found out that Goma had Urinary Blockage due to crystals... He was sedaded and Catheterization (passage of a narrow tube up the urethra) has been performed. The catheter needs to be in placed for 24 hours so that bladder is not blocked again... so he needed to go to emergency room so that they can monitor Goma for 24 hours. I was so sad because I know It must be very very uncomfortable for Goma to have a catheter and IV tube placed in him....I will call in tonight to see how he is doing and verything and give you guys update as soon as I can. Please pray for Goma and his recovery. Thank you!

Dear Goma's Mom,
We are so sorry about Goma. He was in our nighttime prayers. My children check on your blog many times during the day. My daughter Jenna is a little weepy this evening thinking of the pain Goma is in. So glad he has a mom that could see that he needed medical attention.

Blessings,
Christine Van Dyke

Praying for you, Goma-chan. We've had this experience before, so we know what you are going through. Samuda has had it, and was put on Methigel methionine gel to acidify his urine (you may want to ask Goma-chan's vet about this, Sachie-san?). We think it was the water in our old community that was causing the problem, because since moving, he has been fine and has not had to have Methigel. Sammi has had a couple of UTI issues, and is still improving from his last bout with it. We're thinking of you and praying for you, sweet Goma! And hoping your Meowm is able to have a little tiny bit of a happy Mom's Day, knowing you ARE going to get better soon!!! ;) ((((((((^^)))))))) ((((((((O))))))))

I'm glad you got Goma to the vet, this is a very serious condition. My first kitty Ziggy had the same problem. He spent two days at the animal hospital, but he recovered completely. I had to change his diet some- no more fish for him, and I had to watch the ash content in his food, but it never happened again. He lived to the ripe old age of 19, too, and he was three when this happened.

You're a great mom to Goma, and he will be fine! I have no doubt! My thoughts are with you and your Goma!

Oh, poor Goma! He he and your mommy must have been really scared. It seems like the urinary blockage is fairly common disease for a cat. Is there any preventive measure against it? You can check on that so that Goma does not get sick again. I truly hope that he gets better soon. Looking forward to your update. Odaijini!

My kitty, Chibi, has had the same problem most of her life. All it will really take to fix is a change in diet. She now eats Hill's Prescription Diet C/D and I'm sure your vet will recommend this or something similar. The best of luck to Goma. I hope he feels better soon.

Gosh Sachie,

I'm so sorry to hear this. It's really really tough. If you need someone to talk to I'm here and have been through it. Fortunately crystals is managable. The catheter looks horribly painful but it's really good that you took Goma to get unblocked. It really is frustrating but I'm happy that it is only crystals and you caught it now. Hang in there! Tigger and Pumpkin and I are praying for you two <3 <3

Oh Sachie, I am so sorry to hear that Goma is sick. I agree that he must have been in a lot of pain - poor poor kitty. I know how much you love Goma, and what wonderful care you give him. You were very wise to get him to the vet right away as this condition is life threatening. Here is a website that describes the problem pretty well - http://www.marvistavet.com/html/urinary_blockage.html.

If Goma was better, I know that he would wish you a Happy Mothers Day. I know that the emergency vet is very expensive. If you need to do a fundraiser for Goma, I will be there to pitch in. Keep us advised.

Goma is in my prayers.

Aww, feel better, Goma! It's good you got to the vet quickly though. After I lost a cat to a blockage, my other cats started eating Verus Feline Life Advantage. Maybe check that out... Take care, best wishes :)
