I Say Sorry For His Butt...

Thank you so much for your support and great advice on grooming, medicine, and special supplements... you guys make e feel like I am not alone going through this ordeal!! It is great to have such a support system that whenever I have a problem I can just ask you all! And you guys are so knowledgeable! so big thanks to all of you for sticking around with us!!

Here is the Goma update:
First of all, he is better! Thanks you. He is using his litter just fine now. He also has very clean butt, thanks to my Vet, she shaved it for him yesterday at his visit. Goma is eating and drinking fine and was running around try to catch his Cat Quest toy!! I think he is going to be okay.

So, there were many concerns around the medicine Meloxicam. I received few e-mails telling me about this drug. People said it has very bad side effects for cats and it is not even approved to use for cats. Some even said that it kills cats!!! So I was very very concerned then I called my Vet to make sure this drug is safe for Goma. She assured me that it is very low dose that he is taking and when prescribed correctly it is safe and help them a lot removing discomfort. I am giving him the oral dose I have 2 more of those to go and that's it!

After all, Vet thinks what caused all of this is Goma's dirty butt!! So now I will wash, wipe his often and I will take him in to Vet to shave the area regularly as well, so this will NEVER happen to him again!!!!
SACHIE: So....are we cool now Goma-butt??
GOMA-BUTT: Yes we are cool, for now. You better keep it up!
SACHIE: I will...sorry again Goma-butt...

We're glad you're doing better, Goma, but deny, deny, deny any responsibility for stinky butt! And request your own roll of TP for the future. :)

It's times like this that I'm glad I'm not floofy.

So glad you're starting to feel better, Goma!

Goma, I'm so glad that you are okay and it was just your stinky butt. Be happy your mom didn't use the flashy box and show your new haircut!

I keep my cat's furry butt half shaved now. There is so much hair back there it does get in the way. So happy to hear Goma doing better now. Get well Goma. Don't worry Sachie we all make mistakes with our pets. Your a wonderful cat mom. Love yay both! <3

Hi Goma! I heard that you were sick from Praline and I wanted to come visit you! Lots of floofy kitties have this problem. My Miss Billie has had this same issue before! Now, before it gets bad we play "dunk the butt" into some nice warm water with cat shampoo bubbles. :) Billie hates this, but it has to be done sometimes. She was allergic to Temptations, so after I figured it out and stopped giving them to her, she has less stinky butt problems. Sachi, I can tell how much you love Goma and you are a great Mommy! I'm glad he is feeling better.
Hugs and Purrs,
Lorianna

So glad to hear he's doing better! Wipes are a great idea, please just make sure they don't have any harsh chemicals. Himmies and Persians in particular have very sensitive skin. I use only "unscented hypoallergenic" ones for my kitty, I think they're Cottonelle brand and have aloe. They're great for cleaning her eyes/nose/ears, too!

We are SO GLAD to hear Goma-chan is improving. Sammi-chan's recovery is taking longer, ;( but we are hoping and purraying for better to soon come!

I agree with @mochademic about using baby wipes or wet wipes for the butt issue. I have a cat that had some similar issues as Goma. Stinky, dirty butt and then bladder/uti infection. She got metacam/meloxicam twice and it caused kidney failure! I am so glad you made sure that Goma was on a small dose. Bean (my cat) almost died with the kidney failure and now she has to be on special kidney food and medicine twice a day. I am so happy that you are a good cat mom, Sachie! Way to go.
